(Reuters) – A judge in Iowa granted the request. Deere & Co Striking union members may be subject to a temporary injunction if they trespass at the Davenport Works plant or block the entrances and exits.

Marlita Grave was the Chief District Judge for Iowa’s Seventh Judicial District. She wrote an Wednesday order stating that union worker activities were unlawful, unwarranted and impermissible.

Although the injunction doesn’t prohibit the strike entirely, the judge restricted the number picketers at each gate to four.

Brian Rothenberg (a spokesperson for UAW Union that represents workers) said when asked about his comment that the union doesn’t discuss legal issues.

Deere said in a statement, that the injunction was in effect to prevent unauthorised entry or exit.

“Deere & Company (NYSE:) was granted (the order) to maintain a safe environment for all our employees and contractors – including those reporting to work and those exercising their right to strike,” the company said in a statement.

This ruling marks the latest in a long-running fight for better pay and benefits. Deere workers join thousands of U.S. workers on strike over recent months.

The timing of it also coincides with the U.S. soybean and corn harvest seasons, when many farmers struggle to find parts and combines.

Deere was able to reach a 6-year collective bargaining arrangement with the UAW earlier in the month. This agreement came after several weeks of negotiations on benefits and wages. But 90% of workers were against it.
