Australia says it’s in ‘final stages’ of opening borders to Singapore

According to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Singapore Visa Holders could be permitted to travel to Australia in due course of Australia’s opening its international borders over the coming months.
Reporters were told by him that they are at the end of finalizing an agreement with Singapore. according to a transcript of his remarks. “Sometimes ago, I met the Prime Minister of Singapore to establish a new arrangement that will allow our borders to open faster to Singapore.
Morrison said, “We expect that this will be possible within the next week or two as we would open Singapore up to more Visa class holders.”
Because visa holders may also refer to students, business travelers or skilled migrants it was not clear when tourist from the city-state will be permitted into Australia.
Reopening gradually
Starting next monthAustralian permanent residents, fully-vaccinated citizens and immediate family members will be permitted to travel to Sydney without quarantine.
Australia will gradually allow more non-resident visitors into the country, including students and business travelers, skilled migrants and eventually tourists, Morrison said Friday.
He said, “I am confident because of how we prepared for this day that it is very possible to be getting international visitors before the end the year,”
Australia has reached an important milestone: 70% of those over the age 16 are now fully immunized. Morrison’s Government introduced a transition plan in July that said it wants to fully vaccinate between 70% and 80% of the population before easing international border restrictions.

The announcement by Down Under was welcomed by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong

Singapore and Australia share strong economic, investment and people-to-people links. Lee expressed his excitement about the possibility of resuming connectivity between their countries.
