Moderna says its Covid vaccine generates strong immune response in 6- to 11-year-olds

ModernaMonday’s study showed that a lower dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was safe for children aged 6-11.
In a press release, the company stated that 50 micrograms (half the dose given to adults) produced 1.5-fold higher antibody levels than in young adults. They cited early data from the phase 2/3 trial.
Young children were also able to tolerate the shot safely and with minimal side effects. According to the company the most frequent side effects included fatigue, headache, fever, injection site pain and fever. More than 4700 children were tested for the vaccine.
Moderna states it intends to send the data to European Medicines Agency and the Food and Drug Administration in the near future.
Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel released a statement, “We look forward in filing with regulators worldwide and remain committed to do our part to end the COVID-19 panademic with vaccines for adults and kids of all ages.”
This data is coming just a day ahead of a meeting of a crucial FDA advisory panel to decide whether or not to recommend the new data PfizerAnd BioNTechChildren aged five to eleven years can get the vaccine. The FDA might authorize the shots in a matter of days after the meeting. Next, it will be followed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) next week.

Parents are eager to have their kids vaccinated since the rising incidence of the Delta variant in America has made it difficult for many parents. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, the number of Covid cases among children is still high. There have been more than 1.1million new cases of Covid in the last six weeks.
