Seoul court fines Samsung leader Lee for unlawful sedative use

SEOUL (Reuters) – On Tuesday, Yonhap reported that a Seoul court had fined Samsung Electronics Co Ltd Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee 70 millions won ($59.461.62) as well as a fee for illegal use of a controlled substances.
Yonhap reported that Lee received propofol multiple times during 2015 to 2020. This is a sedative which can be used for anaesthesia.
South Korean law holds the receiver of illegally administered controlled substances as guilty.
Lee kept his public profile low since his August parole. He was sentenced for embezzlement and bribery in January. He is still being tried for stock-price manipulation, accounting fraud and embezzlement in connection to the 8 billion dollar merger of two Samsung (KS) companies.
