ANKARA (Reuters] – Turkish President Tayyip Erdan said that the F-35 program will be the focus of his discussion with Joe Biden in Glasgow later on Wednesday. State media reports.

Turkey, which was both a producer and a purchaser of F-35s from F-35s in the past, was removed from the program for having purchased Russian defenses. Turkey claims its expulsion is unfair and demanded that it be reimbursed for the $1.4 billion investment made in the program.

Erdogan claims Washington offered Ankara F-16 jets, modernisation kits and a payment in exchange. But the United States says it has no financial plans.

According to the state-run Anadolu news agency, “The information that we got is that they have a payment program of some kind with them.” He told reporters while on flight from Azerbaijan.

They will let us know if this is true. This will allow me to have a discussion with Mr. Biden at a high level. We will try to reach a compromise in this regard if that is the case.”
