WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The Democratic leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives stated that they will not vote on Thursday for a bipartisan infrastructure program as their leaders suggested. This was after progressives balked.

On Thursday, the leader of their party said that many progressive Democrats were opposed to a vote on an infrastructure bill worth $1 trillion.

Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker earlier that day, urged Democrats Thursday to vote for the Infrastructure Bill. This gave President Joe Biden an legislative win.

However, Representative Pramila Jayapal (NYSE:) Caucus chair) stated that the group wanted more Biden’s agenda passed.

Since long, progressives said that they wouldn’t vote for the infrastructure bill. The bill passed the Senate in August with bipartisan support. However, details of the larger bill, once slated at $3.5 trillion, were not finalized.

Democrats stated that the last vote in the house would be on the temporary funding bill for transportation.
