WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The Washington area subway system announced Thursday that it would continue to reduce subway service until at least November 15, as it finalizes plans to restore most railcars after the Oct. 12 train derailment.

After inspections, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority ordered that 60% of subway railcars be removed indefinitely on October 17. Metro is the name of the Metro subway, which runs from Washington DC to parts in Maryland and Virginia. It serves both the capital city and some areas in Maryland. WMATA stated that it is working to increase the daily train service by increasing its number to 51 trains.
