Major Indonesian Islamic organization declares crypto ‘haram’ — or forbidden -Breaking

The East Java branch of one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organisations Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has issued a Fatwa deeming the use of cryptocurrency ‘haram’, or forbidden, under Islamic law.
Fatwa, a legally binding opinion about Islamic law that can be reached via a discussion called the bahtsul masail, is an example of a Fatwa. The bahtsul masail was attended by representatives from Nahdlatul Ulama’s Branch Management (PCNU), as well as several Islamic boarding schools across East Java.
