With prayers and signs, abortion demonstrators converge on U.S. Supreme Court -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – A group of protestors against abortion gathered outside the white marble neoclassical building. They prayed for the nine justices and listed each of them by name.

On Monday, hundreds of supporters and opponents to the restrictive Texas abortion law met outside the courthouse. It was a warm autumn day in Washington. Protestors of abortion held placards that said, “Let their hearts beat,” while playing Christian music. Signs promoting abortion rights included “Bans off our bodies,” and “Abortion Is Essential.”

The law’s advocates cast it in religious terms by some.

Chief strategy officer of the anti-abortion group Stanton Public Policy Center was Patrick Mahoney. He said that “our strength is local.” There are grandmas who can be found in every country’s churches making baby booties and selling bakes. “There’s a lot of collective energy in the movement at this moment.”

Mahoney stated that private enforcement was a key part of the law. I doubt it. It saves innocent people’s lives. “I think the idea is innovative and very creative.

Private citizens can sue any person who assists or performs an abortion. A citizen can win a maximum of $10,000 by winning a lawsuit.

Julia Deluce is a Coordinator with Students for Life. She stated that she advocates for “pre-born” children’s rights and added, “They are humans.” They’re part of our species. They are part of our species and deserve to be protected.

The Texas law bans abortion when most women are not aware they’re pregnant. This alarms pro-abortion activists. The Supreme Court’s Roe legalized abortion nationwide. v. Wade decision. In recent years, a series of strict Republican-backed abortion laws were passed in the United States.

Martha Dickey, Washington resident, said she advocates for abortion rights ever since the 1970s.

Amy Hagstrom Miller was the founder and sole provider of abortions at Whole Women’s Health Clinic. The Texas law was challenged by Amy Hagstrom Miller. This ban only changes what kind of abortions people can choose to have. She stated that she hopes justices will understand the effect of their decisions on “real people”‘s lives.
