TOKYO, Reuters – At their September meeting of Bank of Japan policymakers discussed the fate of a pandemic relief loan program. One of them proposed that it be phased out once the COVID-19 crises subsides. Minutes of Tuesday’s meeting were available.

While the majority of members agreed with the conclusion that Japan’s economy is likely to grow, some pointed to potential risks. These included the possibility that supply restrictions could continue for longer periods and cause economic damage beyond what was expected.
