WASHINGTON (Reuters] – Republican Mike Carey defeated Democrat Allison Russo, a former president Donald Trump’s coal lobbyist, in a special election to elect the 15th Congressional District of Ohio around Columbus. MSNBC projected this on Tuesday.
Republican Steve Stivers held the Ohio seat for 10 years. He was elected earlier this year on a vote to impeach Trump. The charge that he incited Trump’s deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2017, saw him resign in May.
