Meta is reportedly planning retail stores as it pushes into metaverse

MetaAccording to a report by Reuters, Facebook is currently in discussions about opening its first retail store. This comes as the company seeks to enter the metaverse. The New York Times

The Times reported that the stores have yet to open and will enable the company to display devices such as virtual reality headsets and gadgets for teleconferencing, which allow users to videochat through Facebook. The social media company would open its first physical store.

A week after Facebook, news of the vision for the company comes out. changed its name to Meta. According to the company, it is shifting its focus towards building a virtual universe or metaverse that allows users to socialize and work together. The Times reported that Meta’s retail plans could be abandoned. This indicates that Meta needs a physical presence in order to show off what it can offer in the virtual world.

It sells many products, which it may allow customers to try personally. Its Oculus Quest virtual reality headsetsThe company will rebrand as Meta Quest to give customers a glimpse of its vision for the metaverse, before making a purchase. Meta was under attack in the last months following a Facebook ex-friend. employee leaked documents to Congress and the media that revealed the company is aware of several issues with its platforms but chooses to ignore or not resolve them.

Meta is reportedly planning a flagship store for Burlingame, California, where it has an office for Reality Labs. According to reports, before changing its name, Meta decided on the title of the retail stores as the “Facebook Store.”
