SEATTLE (Reuters) – Boeing (NYSE:) Co stated Tuesday that October deliveries dropped to 27 planes, while the 787 is still sidelined. However, Boeing (NYSE;) Co seized on strong cargo demand and won two 777 freighters from Maersk for Star Air.

According to data from closely monitored companies released Tuesday, October’s delivery numbers were 8 less than September and 14 higher than October last year.

Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner is integral to its ability to recover from the pandemic, as well the safety scandal that resulted in the deaths of two people.

Out of the 27 planes delivered in October, 18 were 737 MAXpassenger Jets. Six were for European low cost carrier Ryanair. Boeing stated that it also delivered two Boeing 737-800 business aircrafts to an unknown buyer and two P-8 maritime patrol planes to the U.S Navy.

These five other jets fed cargo capacity with larger widebodies: the 747 freighter was one of them. United Parcel Boeing announced that the Service was one 777, one 767 and one 777 respectively for FedEx Corp (NYSE)), and a freighter for Taiwan’s EVA Airways Corp. One 767-based tanker is for the U.S. Air Force.

Many airlines had to shut down their passenger aircraft during the pandemic. It has driven up cargo demand on specially equipped freighters.

Boeing delivered 268 aircraft this year, with 241 of these in September. In the first ten months of 2020, it delivered 111 aircraft.

212 were the top-selling 737 MAX aircraft, which it returned to service late 2020 following a two-year ban.

Boeing still has to deal with the structural issues in its 787 larger aircraft. This has led to it having to stop production.

Last month, Chief Executive Dave Calhoun stated to analysts that “we have clear sight to the steps ahead”. He said this: He did not provide any specifics regarding the timeline, subject to regulatory approvals.

Boeing sold seven aircraft after cancelations and cases where buyers converted orders for different types ofaircraft.

There were 10 gross orders. These included 8 737 MAX jets whose owner was not identified and 2 777 freighters to Maersk Star Air.

Boeing stated that Air Lease Corp (NYSE 🙂 Corp cancelled a contract for two 787-10 planes in October. Aviation Capital Group, however, dropped one 737 Max.

Boeing stated that this brings the total number of orders in 2012 to 710, or 302 to 399 after cancelling and conversions.
