(Reuters). Twitter Inc (NYSE:) Added a warning label to Tuesday’s anime video by U.S. Republican lawmaker Paul Gosar. It depicts him swinging swords at President Joe Biden, and killing Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

Twitter stated that the video infringed their “hateful behavior” policy. They also blocked engagement, preventing users from liking, responding, or retweeting the tweet.

In a note attached above the tweet, social media giant Twitter stated that it considered “it might be in public interest for the Tweet not to remain accessible”.

Twitter sent an email stating that engagements for the tweet will be restricted as is usual with such notices.

A Gosar spokesperson did not immediately reply to Reuters’s request.

Gosar shared a 90 second video on Sunday. It appears that Gosar is using an edited version of a Japanese animation series. The footage includes real footage from U.S. Border Patrol officers rounded up migrants at U.S.–Mexico borders.

Famous politicians as well as social media users have condemned the use of doctored footage.

Ocasio Cortez replied to the tweet https:// thread by noting that the video was posted by “creepy members I work with”, and saying she did not expect any consequences from Gosar, the Republican leader of Congress.

Ilhan Omar, a Democratic Representative said that “this man shouldn’t serve in Congress.” “Imagining that your coworkers will be violently attacked has no place within our political discourse or society.”
