(Reuters) – U.S. journalist and anchor Brian Williams will be leaving NBC News next month to spend more time with his family. This decision was made by Rashida Jones, President of MSNBC.

Jones noted that Williams’s time at NBC is marked by breaking countless important stories and attracting top journalists and guests to his programmes.

Brian Williams told us that he wanted to spend more time with his loved ones in the months ahead. Jones stated that he will sign off at The 11th Hour at year’s end,” according to Reuters.

Williams wrote in the memo that his time with NBC spanned 28 year in 38 countries. It covered 8 Olympic Games, 7 presidential elections and half a dozen Presidents. “A few wars,” he added.

“I was there for MSNBC’s launch. He said that my return to the air years later was my decision, and that launching The 11th Hour was something I was proud of.
