(Reuters) – U.S. president Joe Biden underwent a colonoscopy and physical exam on Friday. He is still fit to serve and can continue his duties without accommodations. This was according to his doctor in a letter that the White House released.

Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, said the colonoscopy found a “benign-appear polyp” that was easily removed.

According to the doctor, “Histologic evaluations are expected to be complete early next week.” “The president never has colon cancer.”

O’Connor also said Biden has exhibited an increased frequency and severity of “throat clearing” due to reflux, which warranted a detailed exam. The examination revealed no cancer, tumors or other serious conditions.

O’Connor noted that Biden’s gait was also “perceptibly more stiffer and less fluid” than before. O’Connor said the spine wear and tear was responsible for much of the stiffness in the exam.

Biden temporarily transferred power to Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States. He was also undergoing a colonoscopy on Friday morning.
