CNBC obtained two e-mails Musk sent in October to employees at Tesla. One of the emails stated that listening to music while at work was fine, and another said it was okay to use one earbud to monitor safety-related concerns. Musk’s second and more severe email reminded workers that they have only three options when Musk gives directions. He can either explain his error, ask for clarification or simply execute.

CNBC also looked at other Musk emails in the recent months. These included words of encouragement to employees who work on Tesla’s factory in Berlin. CNBC agreed with an August bullish analyst call suggesting that Tesla stock could go up. $3,000 per share — if the company executes well.
