Poland reports fewer attempts to cross its border with Belarus -Breaking

WARSAW, (Reuters) – The number of people trying to enter Poland via Belarusian migrants fell on Friday following an apparently changed in Minsk’s stance that may help ease a situation that has escalated into a serious East-West conflict.

According to the Polish Border Guard, there have been 195 attempted crossings of the frontier Friday (NYSE:), down from 250 Thursday and 501 respectively the previous day. Warsaw, however, warned that this was not the end of the migration crisis.

Europe claims Belarus has flown in thousands from the Middle East to push them into joining the EU. Since last year’s unrest, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has been at odds.

Belarus, which denies fomenting the crisis, cleared a migrant camp near the border on Thursday and started to repatriate some people to Iraq but Poland said on Friday that Minsk was still trucking https://reut.rs/3CujCCI hundreds of migrants to the frontier.

Yesterday, there were multiple attempts to cross the border by force. There were about 200 immigrants in the largest group. The rest consisted of tens of thousands of others. “The foreigners were aggressive, they threw stones and firecrackers, and used teargas,” said the Border Guard on Saturday via Twitter.

Polish police stated that during Friday’s crossing near Starzyna, Belarusian border guards and policemen were attacked by stones.

Even though the numbers of people trying to cross border were down, officials from Poland stated that they expect tensions to rise.

According to a statement from the government, Mateusz Morawiecki, Polish Prime Minister, will travel to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Estonia Sunday in order discuss the crisis.
