WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Lawyers representing the U.S. Capitol rioter “QAnon Shaman”, also known as the “QAnon Shaman”, argued on Monday about who would represent him. This was just a week after he received a sentence of more than three decades in prison for his involvement in the Jan. 6 deadly attack.

John Pierce, an attorney based in Los Angeles who represents 25 Jan. 6 defendants said that he and William Shipley (Honolulu) have been appointed as Jacob Chansley’s attorneys. Chansley is well-known because of the headdress with horns that he wore when he was at the Capitol. They represent Chansley, according to a court filing.

Their claim was immediately disputed by Chansley’s original attorney, Albert Watkins, who represented the 34-year-old through his guilty plea and sentencing https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-seeks-four-years-prison-capitol-rioter-qanon-shaman-2021-11-17 to 41 months in federal prison.

According to a press release, Pierce and Shipley were “now counsel of record for Mr. Chansley in any further legal issues relating to his attendance at January 6 protests.”

Chansley will pursue all available remedies, including a direct appeal to his conviction and claims for ‘Ineffective assistance of counsel’,” it stated.

Watkins stated to Reuters that he had not been fired.

He said, “I’m choosing the higher road and waiting until I can get an insight into the real situation.”

Watkins later stated that he spoke with Chansley, who confirmed his continued representation.

Watkins asked U.S. District judge Royce Lamberth last week to send his client to prison for the time he had already served since January’s arrest.

Pierce was also the first to be able to defend the acquitted Kenosha shooting suspect Kyle Rittenhouse, but he was fired in January by the Rittenhouse families.
