LONDON (Reuters] – Adele, the music star and king of pop, soared straight up to the top UK charts with “30”, her brand new album. This was a remarkable return that broke all records.

Grammy Award Winner and one of the best-selling singer-songwriters in the world, she released her fourth studio record last week to praise critics. Fans as well as critics praised her honesty about the album she stated she made to clarify her separation to Angelo.

The Official Charts Company reported that “30” had 261,000 first-week sales, making it the most successful album of 2017. The figure is the biggest for an album since Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” in 2017 and the biggest for a female solo album since Adele’s last record, 2015’s “25”.

“It becomes Adele’s fourth UK Number 1 album; she has now reached Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with all of her studio albums, a record for a female act,” the Official Charts Company said in a statement.

“All of Adele’s previous albums are also present in the chart this week; 25 (Number 15), 21 (Number 18) and 19 (Number 31).”

The Official Charts Company reported that “30”, which had received 55.7 million streams across all 12 tracks, was the album with the highest streamed this week.

Adele, who is known for singing ballads about love and nostalgia, topped the UK singles chart for six weeks with “Easy On Me,” the first release from “30”.

This song is now her longest-running number one single on the Official Singles Chart, surpassing her megahit “Someone Like You”, 2011. The top 5 also included “Oh My God” (from “30”) and “I Drink Wine”, which are two of her other singles.

Expect the 33-year old to be at the top of other charts. Billboard reported earlier this week that “30”, the U.S.’s fastest-selling album, had only been available for three days. Initial data was not yet available.

The name of “30” was inspired by a significant age in Adele’s history, just like her earlier albums. In 2019, the singer split with Simon Konecki.
