MOSCOW, Reuters – Russia doesn’t intend to invade Ukraine. Any suggestion that the opposite is false propaganda by America, said Moscow’s chief of foreign intelligence.

In recent weeks, U.S. officials, NATO, and Ukrainian officials raised alarm over unusual Russian troop movements close to the Ukrainian border. This suggests that Moscow could be ready for an attack.

Russia stated repeatedly that it has the right to send its troops anywhere on its own territory. This should not be cause for alarm.

“I must reassure everybody. Sergei Naryshkin from Russia’s foreign Intelligence Agency stated that “nothing like this will happen.” He made the comments in an interview broadcast live on state television. The comment was about Russia’s invasion plans.

“All that’s happening on this topic now is, of course, malicious propaganda by U.S. State Department.”

Naryshkin made the remarks one day after U.S. State Department’s top diplomat for European affairs stated all options were open to them in responding to Russia’s troop buildingup at Ukraine’s border. NATO will decide the next step after further consultations next week.

Although U.S. officials expressed concerns over a Russian attack on Ukraine’s, Moscow accused Washington, Kyiv, and NATO of provocation and irresponsible behavior near its borders.
