Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The gained 0.5% at the Sydney close.

Metcash Ltd. ASX: was among the top performers for the session. It rose by 7.34%, or 0.290 points, to trade at 4.240 at close. Meanwhile, Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX 🙂 gained 4.55%, or 0.070 point to close at 1.610. APA Group was up 4.45%, or 0.420 points to 9.850 late trade.

Zip Co Ltd, (ASX:), fell 10.4% or 0.49 point to trade at 4.34 by the end of the session. Nearmap Ltd (ASX) fell 7.05%, or 0.105 points, to close at 1.385. Pointsbet Holdings Ltd The ASX: fell 6.99%, or 0.50 points, to 6.65

On the Sydney Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those in progress by 1160 to 372 and 288, respectively.

Zip Co Ltd (ASX) shares fell 52 weeks ago to their lowest level. They lost 10.14%, or 0.49 to 4.34. Nearmap Ltd’s shares (ASX) dropped to 52 weeks lows, losing 7.05 % or 0.105 to 1.385. Pointsbet Holdings Ltd. (ASX:), shares fell 6.99% to 52 week lows. This is a decrease of 0.50 to 6.65.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 0.81% to 14.782.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.07%, or 1.30, to $1782.60 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose by 2.26%, or 1.50, to $67.76 per barrel in January. The February Brent oil contract rose 2.5%, or 1.50, to $71.38 per barrel.

The AUD/USD rose 0.2% to 0.7016 while the AUD/JPY was up 0.63% at 79.38.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.2% at 96.340.
