LONDON, (Reuters) – The number of new British car registrations increased by around 1% in November according to preliminary industry data published Monday.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said that registrations are about 31% lower than their pre-pandemic level.

Plug-ins accounted for 28% of this market. The SMMT called for the government’s speedy rollout of its charging infrastructure, saying that there is currently only one charger installed for every 52 plug-in car.

The final numbers will be provided by the SMMT at 0900 GMT.
