NEW YORK, (Reuters) – The sex abuse case against British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell begins its second week after jurors heard testimony last week from a woman who claims that Maxwell made her vulnerable to abuse by Jeffrey Epstein as a teenager.

The trial, scheduled to continue through January in New York by the prosecution, is expected to include three additional accusers. Maxwell, aged 59, is charged with recruiting and grooming underage girls to abuse Epstein from 1994 through 2004. She faces eight counts for sex trafficking.

The first accused, Jane (also known as Jane), testified in tears and open court that Epstein had abused her since she was fourteen in the late 1990s. Jane stated that Maxwell was sometimes present in these encounters.

Maxwell was the daughter of Robert Maxwell, an ex-british media baron. She has pleaded guilty. Maxwell’s lawyers have raised doubts about the credibility of four accused and claim that they are targeting Maxwell only because Epstein is dead.

At 66 years old, the globetrotting and well connected investor committed suicide in Manhattan’s jail cells while awaiting his trial for sexual abuse.

Jurors heard Epstein’s personal pilot during the first week of trial. He recalled former Presidents Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump riding on Epstein’s plane. Jane claimed that Epstein brought her to Trump at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club as a 14-year-old.

Trump, Clinton and Prince Andrew have not been charged with wrongdoing.

A green massage table was also presented to jurors by police who seized it from Epstein’s Palm Beach home during a 2005 raid. Jane claimed that many of Epstein’s sexual encounters began with massages. The word “massage” was used by Epstein’s prosecutors to lure underage girls into a room.
