MongoDB shares jump as revenue growth accelerates

Database software manufacturer shares MongoDBOn Monday, after the publication of fiscal third-quarter results, prices rose as high as 18% during extended trading

The company’s success story is shown below:

  • Earnings:Adjusted loss of 11c per share vs. 38c per share expected by analysts according to Refinitiv.
  • Revenue:Analysts expected $226.9million, while Refinitiv.com estimates that it will be $205.2 million.

A statement said that revenue increased 50% over the past year, compared to 44% growth during the preceding quarter. The company’s Atlas cloud service for data management grew revenue by 84%, as compared to 83% in the prior quarter.

However, the total loss of the company grew to $81.3million from $72.7million in the previous quarter. Sales and marketing costs accounted for more than half the quarterly revenue. Top cloud service providers include Amazon MicrosoftDatabase incumbents, such as IBM Oracle.

MongoDB increased its guidance for the 2022 fiscal year. MongoDB now anticipates a net loss per share adjusted at 74c to 71c on revenue of $846.3million to $849.3million, as opposed to an expected loss of $1.20 or $1.13 on revenue of $805.0million to $811.0million. Analysts expected to lose $1.13 per share on $813.0m in revenue.
