Germany records highest daily COVID deaths since February -Breaking

BERLIN (Reuters – Germany has recorded the most deaths due to COVID-19 since Feb., as the country fights against a fourth round of the pandemic.

The total number of new infections reported was 69,601 compared to the week before. Another 527 deaths were recorded, which is the most since February 12, according to the German Robert Koch Institute. This brings the total to 104.047.

However, 7 day incidence rates per 100,000 continued to drop in the country, dropping to 427 on Tuesday from 432.

Experts have raised questions about whether Germany’s metric measures the end of the wave.

Last week, the nation agreed not to allow unvaccinated persons to access any other businesses than the essential ones like grocery stores, pharmacies, and bakeries. They also decided to intensify the vaccination campaign.
