What are the best bars in the world? New York, London, Singapore

London’s Connaught Bar is the best bar in the world — again.
These numbers are based on “The World’s 50 Best Bars”, an annual ranking published by William Reed Business Media (UK), which also publishes the “The World’s 50 Best Bars” magazine. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list.
This year’s results have been announced at an event held in London yesterday, following a quiet ceremony online in 2020.
This is the Connaught Bar’s second consecutive win. Since 2016, it has been ranked in the top five bars on the List.
In 2008, the 50 Best group began publishing an annual bar ranking. Since then, just two countries can lay claim to having the world’s “best bar” — the United Kingdom and the United States.
It’s a streak that continues into the new year.
This is the No. The No. 1 bar in the World
Connaught BarIt is found in the 5-star The Connaught Hotel, Mayfair, London.
Giorgio Bargiani and Agostino Perurone, both Italians, are the owners of the bar. They serve classic drinks as well as their own creations like the Mulata Daisy, which is rum and sweet liquor with lime juice, sugar, creme de cacao and fenne seeds.
Perrone stated that while Connaught Bar is still classic in its core features, he and his team are constantly pushing the limits of creativity to surprise their guests with elegant and sophisticated innovations.
His explanation was that the restaurant’s menu changes annually, so it doesn’t “become old-fashioned”.

In 13 years, only three bars — Milk and Honey, Artesian and now, Connaught Bar — have topped the world’s “best bar” list more than once. They are all located in London.
An old bar winner can still vie for the highest ranking each year. The World’s 50 Best restaurantsThis list precludes any winners from entering the next year’s competition.
Mark Sansom (50 Best’s content editor) stated that “we haven’t seen in bar sector people winning every year.” “We don’t see the need to bring.” [the rule]In for bars

In Europe, London bars took three spots on the list — including the prestigious No. The 1 and 2 ranks were taken by London bars. Milan added two more to the total for the continent.
This list includes eight bars across North America. New York City — home to previous No. 1 winners The Dead Rabbit and Dante — clung to the top 10 list with Katana Kitten, a Japanese-style bar which took the tenth spot. Dante was the No.1 bar in 2019, and the No.2 spot in 2020. Dante, which was No.1 in 2019 and No. 2 in 2020, fell to 30th this year.

Australia etched four bars onto the list — three in Sydney, one in Melbourne — and the Middle East another two, both in Dubai.
What is the best way to decide which product is “best”?
This list is the result of over 600 industry “experts” voting according to The 50 Best Organization.
Sansom stated, “They are selected from approximately a third of bartenders/bar owners; roughly one third journalists, drink writers, educators; and roughly one third cocktail aficionados.”
Every voter votes for their favorite seven bars in the past year. Employers and bar owners can’t nominate their own bars. Every bar in the world — from a luxury hotel bar to a pub — can be selected.
Mezcal, served here in Mexico City’s Licorería Limantour, is expected to be a popular drink trend in 2022.

Sansom stated that there is no standard criteria, and the voters are free to evaluate any factors they wish.
He said that “Obviously great drinks are the most important thing.” But I believe what voters will consider and what I would think of when I walk into a bar is the way I feel, as soon as I step in.
Citizens had to choose at most two bars from outside of their country up until 2020. This requirement was removed by the 50 Best organisation due to travel restrictions related to pandemics.
Bars that care about their communities and those around them are rewarded.

Voters were instead asked to consider the ways bars handled the pandemic.
Sansom said, “The bars who have taken care of their communities and people around them have… received a reward.”
Cocktail trends
Sansom explains how television and media influence certain cocktail types’ popularity. He also cites some key trends in cocktails over the last three decades.
Sansom stated that there are many different types of vermouth currently being offered. He was referring to herb- and spice-infused wines. And I believe Mexican mezcal has its day.”
Bargiani was the Connaught Bar’s head mixologist. He generally agreed.
He said that the modern bartending evolution has been influenced by the popularity of agave spirits and the revival of vodka and gin, as well as the return of vermouth and fortified wines, and the rise of herbal liqueurs.
Dante is a New York City bar that has been around since 106 years.

Bargiani stated that simpler cocktails, made with traditional spirits and locally sourced ingredients, will dominate the future cocktail scene.
