Daimler settles diesel emission claims in Canada for $197 million -Breaking

FRANKFURT – Friday’s announcement by Daimler (OTC 🙂 that they have settled claims that its diesel vehicles may contain a cheat device used to cheat emission testing. The German luxury carmaker strongly denies the allegations.

Daimler stated, “With this settlement, Daimler makes another step towards resolution for various diesel proceedings” and it avoids lengthy court processes with their respective financial and legal risks.

The statement added that Daimler denied the factual material and legal claims of the plaintiffs.

Daimler claimed that the Ontario Superior Court of Justice approved the settlement without finding Daimler to be guilty of defeat devices.
