Pfizer’s COVID-19 shot causes mostly mild side effects in young kids

(Reuters) – Pfizer According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, most side effects from COVID-19 vaccinations caused by BioNTech SE and Inc (NYSE:), were mild in children between 5 and 11 years old.

Data showed that some children experienced pain at the injection site and systemic reactions like fatigue, headaches and fatigue after receiving the second dose.

The CDC also reported 11 cases of myocarditis in children between 5 and 11 years old who were vaccinated. Seventeen of them had already recovered and four more were in recovery at the time the report was written.

Myocarditis can be a side effect of mRNA vaccinations.

U.S. The CDC reported that 4,249 adverse event reports were received by the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS). 97.6% of these cases weren’t serious.

Between Nov. 3rd and Dec. 19, the cases were published in VAERS, and vsafe. This is a free smartphone-based safety surveillance system to monitor adverse reactions after COVID-19.

According to the agency, 8.7 million doses had been given to the children within the age range.

This vaccine is only available to 5-15-year-olds and was approved in the United States in October.

The CDC conducted a separate study and found that Pfizer’s 2-dose vaccine for coronavirus was 92% effective in protecting adolescents aged 12-17 from the disease.

The period of predominance of the Delta variant in the United States coincided with that observed for the analysis, CDC stated.
