TwitterRep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal account was suspended after repeated violations of Covid-19 misinformation policies, according to the company on Sunday.
Greene (R-Ga.) appears to have continued access to @RepMTG her professional account. It’s not clear what tweets she used to win a permanent suspension. The office didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.
Twitter stated in a statement that they had temporarily suspended the @mtgreenee account for repeat violations of COVID-19’s misinformation policy. We have made it clear, as per the strike system we use for this policy: accounts will be permanently suspended for repeat violations.
Twitter implemented a strike system to address violations in its policy, which was adopted last March. Although a single strike will not result in an action, the company can lock down accounts that violate the policy repeatedly.
According to the website of the company, 5 or more strikes could result in a permanent suspension.
