The week is still data-light and earnings are yet to start in big ways. These are the three factors that will impact markets tomorrow.

1. Airlines stocks

Airline shares were up Tuesday, as fewer concerns regarding Omicron and truces with telecom companies helped to overcome headwinds.

Covid-related absenteism caused additional U.S. flights not to fly. In addition, weather and Covid infected are predicted to cause more disruptions to airline schedules.

2. Communications truce

Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) and AT&T Inc (NYSE:) had an amicable settlement with U.S. authorities and airlines over the launch of new 5G services.

After initially refusing to heed the Department of Transportation’s warning, the two companies decided Monday to postpone the launch of 5G services until January 19. It is anticipated that this will give regulators enough time to resolve safety concerns at airports due to 5G operators using new frequencies. Telecom carriers offered to lower the power of the new 5G service by six months beyond what they had agreed on previously.

Federal Aviation Administration was ready to issue flight restrictions which would have prevented both cargo and passenger flights from the country. At least for now, this possibility has been ruled out.

3. Auto-wars

Ford Motor Company (NYSE) plans to almost double its F-150 Lightning all-electric pickup.

According to the company, it plans to produce 150,000 vehicles annually at Dearborn’s Michigan factory. This is in response to customer demand.

The company will begin inviting the first reservation holders to order the F-150 Lightning starting Thursday. The company is asking reservation holders to keep an eye out for an email invitation or log in to their Ford account within the next few months. Those who don’t receive invitations to convert for the 2022 model year will have an opportunity to order a future model year vehicle in due course, the company said.
