BERLIN (Reuters), – German carmaker BMW has set a record for 2021 sales, with more than 2.2 million units sold under its BMW brand, according to Tuesday’s statement. This was despite a worldwide chip shortage.

According to a spokesperson, “For the first-ever time in history, over 2.2 million BMW cars were sold.” In 2021, BMW is the first-placed premium vehicle brand in the world.

German news agency dpa reported Tuesday morning that Pieter Nota, sales chief, had disclosed the record-breaking sales figures in an interview.

Nota noted that “solid sales growth” was achieved by the BMW Group in 2018, which includes Mini and Rolls-Royce. We expect more profitable growth in 2022.

BMW is expected to release its complete annual sales numbers next week.
