On Tuesday, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office in New York. said it was dropping a misdemeanor criminal chargeSubmitted against the former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo was involved in a claim he forcibly touched a female aide in the governor’s mansion in December 2020.

 Albany D.A. Albany D.A.

Soares made the following statement: “As such we have not been permitted to prosecute the matter and request that the Albany County Sheriff charges be dropped.”

Three days prior to Cuomo’s scheduled appearance in court, the dismissal was made by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

After a damning report by New York Attorney General’s Office revealing that he had sexually harassed close to a dozen women, two months ago the incumbent Democrat filed the complaint.

The criminal complaint said that on Dec. 7, 2020, when the aide visited him in the Executive Mansion in Albany, Cuomo intentionally, “and for no legitimate purpose, forcibly place his hand under the blouse shirt of the victim …. and onto her intimate body part.′

The aforementioned are the [victim’s]Left breast to the purpose of degrading or gratifying his sexual needs,” the complaint.

Soares felt hurried at the Sheriff’s Office’s decision to file a complaint without any prior notice to the prosecution.

However, Soares office had until Tuesday not indicated that they would drop the case.

Like most New Yorkers I am still deeply disturbed by the allegations. Soares claimed Tuesday that such behavior is unacceptable in any government agency or workplace.

Although criminal charges in such cases may not be possible, I urge victims of harassment or abuse at work to speak up and raise these concerns so these crucial discussions can continue.

This is important breaking news. Keep checking back for more updates.
