Investing.com — Company that develops autonomous driving technology Tusimple Holdings Inc (NASDAQ) expanded its partnership to Nvidia Corporation, (NASDAQ:), to develop and design an autonomous domain controller that can be used by autonomous trucks.

TuSimple reports that the design will contain the Nvidia DRIVE Orin technology-on-a chip, specifically developed for autonomous driving applications.

Domain controllers are the main computer that powers intelligent cars and autonomous driving abilities.

Cheng Lu, president and CEO at TuSimple, stated that a high-performing, production-ready ADC was a crucial piece in scaling our AFN.

Lu said, “We think this move gives us a significant competitive edge in speeding up time to market as well as further expanding our industry leader position.”

TuSimple will receive AI expertise from Nvidia. TuSimple will have usage rights to controller reference designs, with certain “first-use” provisions. TuSimple indicated that they will work with other manufacturers to produce the ADC.

TuSimple shares fell 8% as of the writing. Nvidia shares dropped 5.8%.
