Meural was founded by Netgear in 2015 and acquired by Netgear (NASDAQ) in 2018. Netgear offers digital picture frames of different sizes (21-inch, 27-inch, and 27 inches) for purchase. Netgear’s 15-inch digital frame was introduced in 2021. This is to make it easier for people who want to share their photos or other forms of art via the Internet. These frames also allow art lovers to access their Meural subscriptions and view artwork. The subscription includes over 30.000 works of art.

One of the most notable features in the digital frames’ is the capability to display Non-fungible Tokens. Netgear has integrated several cryptocurrency wallets (e.g. MetaMask) into its Meural digital canvas platform. VentureBeat spoke with Poppy Simpson who is Netgear Meural’s head for product and content. Netgear announced its latest feature at the Tech Trade Show CES-2022 in Las Vegas.

Owners of Meural can link their MetaMask cryptocurrency wallets to the Meural web platform to enable the operation and latest features of digital picture frames. The Web platform allows users to choose which NFT they would like displayed on their wall. The NFT is uploaded to the Web platform. A QR code can also be used for verification and metadata. The users will be able, once their crypto wallet is linked to their accounts, to make payment for the NFT. Simpson says that NFT arts can’t be purchased using Meural. However, they can be bought via MetaMask wallet. The MetaMask wallet will enable the transfer to the wall to allow the user to see the art. It is easy because users don’t need to download NFT art, and they have already been authenticated by their wallets.
