SEOUL (Reuters). -North Korea launched what could be a missile ballistic on Tuesday. This is the second missile launch by North Korea in less than a week, according to the Japanese coast guard. It comes after the leader of the reclusive nation urged military leaders to increase military advancements.

South Korea’s military has also confirmed the launch, without providing any further details.

Last week, North Korea said it fired https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/north-korea-fired-what-could-be-ballistic-missile-japan-coast-guard-2022-01-04 a “hypersonic missile” that successfully hit a target on Wednesday.

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea’s nuclear-armed North Korea, made clear that he would bolster his military in the New Year to combat an international crisis. This was despite stalled negotiations with the United States.

It was the latest test just a day following the United States mission at the United Nations joined by France and Ireland.

U.S. The statement was made by Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield on Monday. She added that such tests do not just improve North’s capability, but also expand what the North can offer illegal arms dealers and clients around the globe.

“(North Korea), makes these military investment at the expense the well-being North Korean people,” she stated.

Thomas Greenfield reiterated his call for North Korea’s return to negotiations and to abandon its nuclear weapons and missiles.

She said, “Our goal still remains complete, verifiable und irreversible nuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.”

South Korean military officials cast doubt on Friday on North Korea’s “hypersonic Missile” claims. The missile, which North Korea said it tested fired last week was deemed to not be capable of carrying out its claimed mission.

The resolutions adopted by the U.N. Security Council prohibit all North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile tests and have imposed sanctions against those responsible.

North Korea said that it was open to talks, provided the United States and other countries abandon their “hostile” policies such as military drills and sanctions.

Most observers do not believe that Kim will surrender his entire nuclear arsenal. North Korea claims that its missile tests, and other military actions are in self-defence. These activities look similar to the ones carried out by other nations.
