Pizza Hut adds Beyond Meat sausage to Canadian menus permanently

Pizza Hut restaurants in Canada are adding Beyond Meat’sPlant-based sausages will be added to the menus starting Monday.

A little over a year back, the parent company behind this pizza restaurant was sold. Yum BrandsBeyond has announced an official partnership for meat replacements at Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Monday is also the official launch of KFC Beyond Fried Chicken in the U.S.The partnership will allow the restaurant company to reach customers who eat less meat, but don’t want to be vegetarians or vegans. Beyond hopes to also find new customers who will love its products.

The Beyond Italian Sausage Crumbles were tested in two Pizza Huts locations: Toronto and Edmonton. Canada has more than 450 Pizza Hut stores. It’s now the second country to offer Beyond Meat items to their menus, after the United Kingdom, which added them in July. Pizza Hut has not yet announced a national launch of its plant-based pepperoni, although it did test them in five U.S. locations this summer.

Canadians can use the meatless sausage crumbles to top any pizza. It can be used in flatbread pizzas or alfredo pasta dishes. To imitate the flavor and texture of sausage, Beyond uses pea protein in its base.

Beyond’s stock fell 42% during the last year, which has caused its market capitalization to drop by $4.34 trillion.
