(Reuters) – The pre-production Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV from General Motors Co (NYSE) has been completed and will be available for customers within a few months, President Mark Reuss stated in a Linkedin posting on Thursday.
Detroit-based GM was recently dethroned by Ford Motor (NYSE) Co as America’s No. 1 automaker. This competition is over who will be selling more electric cars in 2025.
Reuss noted that Lyriq was launched nine months early because “our teams worked hard on it,”
In a push to make its conventional combustion engines obsolete, GM revealed the Cadillac Lyriq as an all-electric SUV.
Cadillac, GM’s Cadillac, will have the Lyriq Symboliq Celestiq and Celestiq EV alongside a compact SUV in 2025.
The automaker also stopped production of the EV model Chevrolet Bolt after a battery recall in August. It recently extended that halt until February.
