U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.89% -Breaking

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close at NYSE the index was down 0.89% and fell 1.10% to a new one-month low.

The Travelers Companies Inc. (NYSE:) was the best performer of the session, rising 3.19% or 5.11 point to close at 165.18. Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:) added 0.54% or 0.87 points to end at 162.00 and Goldman Sachs Group In late trade, Inc (NYSE: ) was up 0.2% or 0.78 point to 348.10

Dow Inc (NYSE) was the worst performer of the session, falling 3.39% or 2.03 point to close at 57.81. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), fell 2.5% or 1.58 to trade at 52.04. Home Depot Inc (NYSE: ) fell 2.81%, or 10.11 points, to 349.58

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Morgan Stanley (NYSE:), which rose 4.28% at 99.83; The Travelers Companies Inc, (NYSE:), which was up 3.9% at 165.18; and Booking Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:), which gained 2.38% at 2433.6.

These were the worst performers Garmin Ltd (NYSE:) which was down 6.05% to 123.29 in late trade, Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 5.48% to settle at 85.07 and M&T Bank Corp (NYSE:) which was down 5.44% to 166.35 at the close.

Aptorum Group Ltd class A (NASDAQ:), which rose by 38.52%, to 1.690 was the top performer on the NASDAQ composite. Hillstream Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 21.79% to reach 3.13 Adagio Therapy Inc (NASDAQ) gained 16.04% and closed at 6.44

China Finance Online Co Limited, (NASDAQ:), was the worst performer. It fell by 38.04% and 3.990 in late trading. Peloton Interactive Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 23.93% to settle for 24.22 Valneva SE ADR (NASDAQ:) The close was down 20.75% at 37.66

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 2447, 800, and 162 respectively. The Nasdaq Stock Exchange saw 2750 fall and 1120 advance, and 194 remain unchanged.

Peloton Inc. shares (NASDAQ:) dropped to 52 week lows. This was down 23.93%, or 7.62 to 24,.22.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 7.30% to 25.59 a new 1-month high.

For February delivery, Gold Futures fell 0.19% to $1839.70 per troy an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 1.27 percent to reach $84.53/barrel, and March Brent oil, which rose 0.03 percent to trade at $87.37/barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.1% at 1.1312, USD/JPY rose0.04% to 112.14

At 95.775, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.29%.
