U.S. trade chief Tai says world can’t go back to 2019 trading system -Breaking

(Reuters] – U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai indicated that, rather than trying to recreate pre-pandemic trading systems globally, they should instead focus on creating one that is resilient and sustainable that supports higher living standards.

Tai spoke in the virtual World Economic Forum panel and warned against any backward-looking “return of normalcy” following two years of COVID-19-induced disruptions.

Tai said, “It is time that we recognize that our goal should not be to get back to where the world is in 2019, say 2019.”
