NEW YORK (Reuters). Igor Fruman helped Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s ex-personal lawyer, to collect information that was damaging to Joe Biden. Fruman will be notified on Friday if he has been convicted of a campaign finance violation.

Prosecutors have recommended https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-seeks-up-46-months-prison-ex-giuliani-associate-fruman-2022-01-14/?taid=61e24344df9b5d00016ff728&utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter that Fruman, 55, spend 37 to 46 months in prison, mirroring recommended federal sentencing guidelines.

Fruman claims he is not seeking to spend any time in jail and has accepted full responsibility for his actions since October 2019.

The original charges against Fruman, a Belarusian-born man, and Lev Parnas (a former associate of Giuliani), were to conceal a $325,000 illegal donation that was intended to help Trump’s failed 2020 bid for the presidency.

Fruman’s plea https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/igor-fruman-ex-associate-giuliani-says-he-will-plead-guilty-2021-09-10 related to an effort to obtain legal, recreational marijuana distribution licenses by donating to candidates in U.S. states where he sought to do business.

Sentence hearing will take place in Manhattan Federal Court at 2 pm EST (2000 GMT).

Fruman stated that he was aware of the restrictions on foreign nationals contributing to U.S. elections, but he still sent a list to officials to which he intended to give to support the venture.

The foreign national was identified by the prosecution as Andrey Muraviev (a Moscow-based businessman).

Muraviev’s identity became known during the October trial of Parnas, which ended with his conviction https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ex-giuliani-associate-parnas-found-guilty-violating-us-campaign-finance-law-2021-10-22 for violating campaign finance laws related to the marijuana licenses and the donation supporting Trump.

Parnas has not been sentenced. Fruman didn’t agree to a plea bargain with the prosecutors.

Giuliani had already enlisted Parnas to assist in uncovering dirt about Biden and Hunter Biden before the allegations against Fruman were filed.

Giuliani is not being charged. He denies wrongdoing.
