GM to invest more than $6.5 billion in Michigan

WASHINGTON/DETROIT – General Motors and a joint venture formed with LG Energy Solution, are expected to announce next week investments in Michigan of over $6.5 billion. This is according to a State document and information from sources.
According to the Michigan Strategic Fund, Friday’s board meeting will be devoted to GM and its joint venture plans to spend $6.5 billion to create 4,000 new jobs in Lansing Township and Orion Township.
Reuters published December that GM was considering building a $2.5B battery plant close to Lansing in collaboration with LG Energy Solution. Reuters reports that GM had also been considering a $2 billion renovation of Orion Township, in order to create next-generation electric vehicles.
