MEXICO CITY (Reuters). Mexican President Andres Lopez Obrador had a cardiac catheterization on Friday in a hospital. The interior ministry released a statement saying that Lopez Obrador was healthy.

The statement stated that “In this procedure the heart and arteries of president were found healthy and functioning properly.”

Lopez Obrador (68), who suffered a heart attack and was recently healed from his second coronavirus infected, had the procedure done as part of an annual checkup that includes lab tests, stress tests, and CT scans.

According to the medical team, the most recent results indicate the need for cardiac catheterization. However they did not provide any further information about why the procedure took them 30 minutes.

Lopez Obrador, the government stated that “no other intervention is necessary” and was “perfectly healthy.”

A thin tube is inserted into the large blood vessel to reach the heart. This allows for the detection of how healthy the heart works.

Lopez Obrador claimed that he suffered mild symptoms due to both COVID-19 attacks. He was isolated for one week in the latest case, which occurred earlier this month. Then he returned to normal activities including long daily news conferences.

He praised honey and pain relief paracetamol on his first day back. VapoRub is a popular Mexican topical ointment for relieving his symptoms.
