1993: THE FIRST FEMALE JUSTICE IN JEWISH INDIVIDUALS
Democratic President Bill Clinton appointed Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In 1993, she died. Justice Elena Kagan is the second Jewish woman serving on this court.
2009: THE FIRST HISPANIC JUSTICE
Justice Sonia Sotomayor was appointed in 2009 by Democratic President Barack Obama and is still serving as the Supreme Court’s only Hispanic justice.
