AutoStore shares rose by 15% after Ocado issued a statement stating that the Munich court had stopped proceedings against AutoStore to block the sale of one AutoStore-branded robot in Germany.
Ocado responded by saying that Ocado had only given a partial description of proceedings, and that there was no way to conclude the matter.
AutoStore’s shares fell 0.6% after it was hit by Ocado in an American lawsuit.
These companies both provide labour-saving storage technology in the fast-growing internet shopping market. For years, they have been embroiled in legal battles over IP rights.
AutoStore stated that Ocado had stopped proceedings to block the sale in Germany of AutoStore’s robot B1. It noted Ocado was likely to have invalid IP rights for the utility model.
The court stated that Ocado tried to claim technology they did not invent.
Ocado stated, however that the case will be resumed at a later stage.
Ocado explained that AutoStore’s infringement lawsuit continues, however it needs to be confirmed by Ocado of Ocado Utility Model validity. The court will consider the case in a different manner than is normal in Germany.
Ocado shares fell 5.5% in London.
A second patent dispute between these two competitors is ongoing in Britain.
AutoStore’s largest owner, Japan’s SoftBank was the company that went public. Its shares rose initially sharply. These shares have declined 47% over their November peak, due to the U.S. Legal Setback.
