Long Island nurses charged with faking Covid jabs to earn more than $1.5 million

Prosecutors claimed that officers had obtained a ledger containing information about profits from the illegal activities.

New York’s Long Island Nurses are charged with falsifying Covid-19 immunization cards and entering false jabs in state databases. The scam is alleged to have brought in over $1.5 million.

A complaint stated that Julie DeVuono was arrested Friday by the Suffolk County district attorney. She is 49 and she operates Wild Child Pediatric Healthcare Amityville with Marissa Urraro 44.

The pair were accused of creating fake vaccination cards from November 2021 through January 2022. They charged adults $220 per person and children $85 each for the fake records that would be stored in the New York State Immuniization Information System database. Prosecutors stated that DeVuono, Urrano, and others allegedly made records to indicate that the vaccine was administered to an undercover detective.

Officials seized approximately $900,000.

Officials seized $900,000. Officials also claimed to have found a ledger that documented the profits of the scheme worth more than $1.5 million.

DeVuono, Urraro each face one charge of forgery second degree. DeVuono will also be charged with the additional charge of providing a false instrument to file in the first degree. It was unclear how the pair would defend themselves.
