MADRID, Reuters – Spain saw 31.1 million tourists in the last year. This is a significant increase from the 19 million expected to arrive in 2020, when most of the pandemic restrictions have been lifted. However, it still falls far short of the 83.5 millions who arrived in 2019, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Comparatively to 649,000 visitors a year ago, December saw 2.95 million foreigners.

Last year, 34.82 billion euro ($39.30 trillion) was spent by tourists in Spain. This compares to the 19.79 billion for 2020 and 91.91 million in 2019. ($1 = 0.8859 euros)
