Four men charged in actor Michael K. Williams’s overdose death, U.S. prosecutor says -Breaking

(Reuters) – The U.S. prosecution in New York City announced Wednesday that four men were charged with the last year’s death by overdose of Michael K. Williams. Williams was known best for being a gun-toting drug dealer on HBO’s crime drama “The Wire.”

Williams, age 54, was reported to have been found dead in his New York home on September 7, according to police.

Irvin Carttagena, one of the suspects, was detained in Puerto Rico. Damian Williams, the U.S. prosecutor based in Manhattan said that he had been charged in connection to a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl-laced heroin.

Hector Robles and Luis Cruz were also charged with participating in the heroin and fentanyl conspiracy. According to authorities, the men all hail from Brooklyn in New York City.

This is a crisis of public health. It must stop. Williams stated that deadly opioids such as heroin and fentanyl don’t give a damn about your past or who you are.

New York City’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found that Williams had died from “acute alcoholism” due to the effects of multiple drugs, including heroin, cocaine and fentanyl.

Williams was also praised for his roles in television shows such as “Boardwalk Empire”, “Bessie,” and “Lovecraft Country”.
