(Reuters) – On Monday, federal prosecutors will explain to a jury why they brought hate crime charges against three White men convicted in the murder of Ahmaud Arkery, a Black 25-year old man in a predominantly white area in Georgia, in 2020.

Travis McMichael (36) was found guilty along with his father Gregory McMichael (66) and William Bryan (52), of murder, among other charges. Bryan, the only person who was eligible for parole, received a life sentence.
