Green Initiative: Bybit pledges 100,000 fruits trees across India- Bybit promises to plant 100,000 fruit trees throughout India.
- One Tree Planted will be the official partner for this project.
- Other projects like “Fight for Hunger” and “Plastic-Free Nursery” are being planned to promote sustainability and reduce inequality.
Bybit pledged to plant 100,000 trees in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand as well as Maharashtra and Odisha. This is the goal of One Tree Planted, the cryptocurrency exchange.
One Tree Planted is also building a large-scale nursery for tree saplings in Mirzapur. This not only reduces costs but it also lowers carbon emissions. It improves the quality and nutritional value of the saplings by allowing them to adapt to local environments.
These nurseries will also employ elderly and widowed women. This will help to alleviate the inequalities that exist in these already marginalized groups.
Bybit’s Head of Communications Igneus Terrenus shares how Bybit recognizes the importance of giving back to society. Terrenus shares the responsibility to make sure that future generations enjoy a sustainable world. Additionally, Terrenus shares Bybit’s support for One Tree Planted’s solutions to promote sustainability and reduce inequality.
Meanwhile, One Tree Planted’s Forest Campaign Manager Ashley Lamontagne shares her appreciation towards Bybit.
Bybit’s support is greatly appreciated and we look forward to the amazing work that will result from this partnership. We will be planting more trees to help the community and the biodiversity of India through the Fruit Trees to Fight Hunger Initiative.
Bybit will be helping smallholder farmers in marginalized communities by supporting the “India 2022: Fruit Trees to Fight Hunger” project. Participating farmers will be able to create sustainable livelihoods while providing nutritious food for themselves and their families. This project also has long-term objectives of conserving water and preventing soil erosion as well as fighting pollution.
Every fruit tree that is planted for three years will generate $10 per tree each year. It will create a reliable source of income for rural communities that are struggling with poverty and hunger. The pledge will provide employment opportunities for local women working in tree nurseries as well as reducing gender inequality among underprivileged communities.
The project will also launch a “plastic-free nursery” program. To reduce the amount of plastic waste, this program will replace plastic nursery bags by paddy stalks and jute. An initial trial with a limited number of trees will take place in 2022. This will then be expanded over time.
One Tree Planted has grown more than 40 million trees since 2014 in 43 different countries. It has been supporting this project alongside Sustainable Green Initiative since 2017. They currently have planted over 3.5 million trees in India.
